چکیده
Abstract Dropped head syndrome (DHS) exhibits cervical deformity due to weakness of the extensor group, and sarcopenia is characterized by progressive systemic reduction in skeletal muscle mass. These clinical finding are associated with reduced activity daily living, quality life, increased risk mortality. We collected reviewed prospective registry data for 16 patients idiopathic DHS continuously without dropping out 32 healthy individuals who matched their gender age. The prevalence body composition were compared. There no differences sarcopenia, appendicular mass, leg mass between elderly. Trunk was significantly lower than that individuals. A significant correlation found trunk subjects but not patients. Sarcopenia onset DHS. high preservation Patients a loss may be related disease aging.

The influence of sarcopenia in dropped head syndrome in older women
BACKGROUND Age-related sarcopenia may cause physical dysfunction. We investigated the involvement of sarcopenia in dropped head syndrome (DHS). METHODS Our study subjects were ten elderly women with idiopathic DHS (mean age 75.1 years, range 55-89). Twenty age- and sex-matched volunteers (mean age 73.0, range 58-83) served as controls. We used a bioelectrical impedance analyzer (BIA) to analy...

متن کاملA Case of Dropped Head plus Syndrome
UNLABELLED A patient developed neck extensor weakness along with symmetrical, mild proximal extremity weakness. Electrodiagnostic findings were minimal. Subsequently muscle biopsy was undertaken which showed myopathic changes as well as rimmed vacuoles. This case highlights the discussion of histopatholgical findings seen in neck extensor weakness when it occurs in isolation as well as when it ...

متن کاملDropped head syndrome: diagnosis and management
Dropped head syndrome (DHS) is a relatively rare condition, with a broad differential diagnosis. This deformity has significant implications on the health and quality of life of affected individuals. While surgery seems to be an obvious therapeutic option, there is a paucity of information on surgical intervention with no clear consensus on an optimal approach or timing. We present a case of DH...
